Please note that the terms "zipping" and "compressing" mean the same thing.
Zipping files is a helpful thing to do when using the File Transfer Service to send multiple files. When you zip a folder it generally reduces the size of the folder and combines multiple files/folders into a single file, making it easy to send more items at once.
Zipping Files: PC Create a new folder on the desktop Name the folder so you know what it is Drag desired contents into folder Right Click folder Select option "Send to" Select option "Compressed (zipped) folder A folder will appear on the desktop with the same name as the folder but with a .zip extension
Unzipping Files: PC Right Click and select "Extract All" A box will pop up and select "Extract" Files will appear on the desktop
Zipping Files: MAC Create a new folder on the Desktop Name the folder so you know what it is Drag desired contents into folder Right Click folder (if no right click, press Command + Left Click) Select option "Compress" A folder will appear on the desktop with the same name as the folder but with a .zip extension
Unzipping Files: MAC Double click zipped file Icon, files or folder will appear in the same folder/directory that the zip file is in. (i.e. if the .zip file is on the desktop, the unzipped file will appear on the desktop as well)
