Protocols for submitting Note Taking Accommodations are outlined on our website, however, people always seem to have questions about how to go forward with students requesting services. Therefore, we wanted to provide a basic outline and helpful links to make the process more clear.
:: NOTES, STUDENTS REQUEST FOR SERVICES ::
Before submitting a request, review the Note Taking Program Specialist Guidelines
When a student places a request for Note Taking Accommodations, take them to the UVM Notes page: www.uvm.edu/notes/
Click on "Request Services" under the "Student" section.
PLEASE NOTE: If you do this from you own computer and have already entered you netID and password for ANY website, YOUR information will appear instead of the students!
To remedy this issue, clear your history (PC: File -> History -> Clear Recent History, MAC: Tools -> Clear Recent History) or, switch to a new browser.
PLEASE NOTE: if you switch to a new browser, the students information will remain in that browser until y
ou clear the history (Please see above for details), so if you use a second browser, you MUST clear your history between students or the request will go under the wrong person.
If the request goes under the wrong person, PLEASE clear your history and resubmit the request with the student still present in your office. After the correct request is submitted, please email us letting us know to cancel the inaccurate request.
Once you bring up the "Accommodations Request Page" and the student enters their information, search the class by CRN. You can easily find the CRN by going to the Registrar's Office Website: giraffe.uvm.edu/~rgweb/batch/swrsectc_fall_soc_201109/menu.html
When you look for courses by CRN number, they are guaranteed to be the correct section. This will minimize issues when trying to secure a peer note taker or a paid note taker.
Once the student has the accommodations for Note Taking, made sure that they check on the status of notes to make sure they are being posted regularly. If a student comes to us a month before finals requesting notes for the entire semester, it will be very difficult to get those notes. If they check in regularly, then we can avoid drama and other issues surrounding notes.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER ISSUES while trying to register a student, just call the office and we will happily assist you in real time (802) 656-5537 or 65537.
Thank you!
